An aim in life is the only fortune worth finding.
The Introduction

The following is the 1st draft of the Introduction to a book/e-book I am going to complete by the end of March. Enjoy!

I was dying on the inside.

I was 25 years old and, although I wasn’t dying a physical death, the work that I had found myself involved in, at the end of the day, left me lifeless.

The pay was great - but it wasn’t enough.
The hours were flexible - but it wasn’t enough.
The benefits were outstanding - but it wasn’t enough.
The co-workers were wonderful - but it wasn’t enough.
The skills I was learning were priceless - but it wasn’t enough.

I was created for more than this.

Am I naive?
Am I selfish?
Am I un-realitic?
Am I ungrateful?
Am I desiring to live a life that just isn’t possible?

These questions haunted me daily, but as I carried out the responsibilities of my job, all I could think to myself was, I was created for more than this.

Something had to change.

My choices were these:

  • Live the life that the world expected me to live or, live the life of my dreams?
  • Be satisfied with the safety and security of a full-time job or, risk my security for freedom?
  • Live the life of mediocrity and discontent that my current occupation was leading me towards or, pursue the great work that I knew I was created to complete?

For me, it really came down to a choice between death and life.

And although it wasn’t an easy choice to make…

I chose life.

I’d like to know…

Would an introduction like this cause you to want to continue reading? Why or why not?

Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.
Marie Curie
Let us so live that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry.
Mark Twain
