A Franciscan Benediction

May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships, so that you may live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and the exploitation of people, so that you may work for justice, freedom, and peace.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, and starvation, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy.

And may God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done…

Amen.

Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me … Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful… that’s what matters to me.

Ich hab geträumt

Not sure what “Ich hab geträumt” means, but this was a great post by…

javachipmocha:

This is the problem with living in a society where making choices is almost always between the practically realistic and the hopeless alternative: We’ve forgotten the joy and excitement of pursuing the wildest of dreams, we’ve lost the ability to support those who dare to follow their hearts at all costs.

For all of you who aspired to be doctors and lawyers, good for you to have a dream that comes attached with a practical society’s stamp of approval. For everyone else whose aspirations might lead you down a more unconventional path, please know that you are not alone.

May all our dreams come true.
